Great video Fergal. Watching it must give you a great spur on to finish your current build.

    Is that a crackerbox at 9:37 ?

Love the little hydroplane being towed by the Goldwing at 12:44!

Top marks to whoever made the video, it really shows what can be achieved and makes me realise that perhaps your not that mad after all!!!
    Good music too.

    Mark.

The boat at 9.37 is called a Gentry very like my crackerbox, it was his launch day and I just hope mine runs and looks half as well as his, this is his first run.
It's nice to know I'm not the only mad one :D

Some fascinating work there. Does Glen-L do sailboats any more? I remember looking at a set of plans for a 21 footer years ago but never went ahead for a lot of (at the time) sensible reasons.

This is a nice boat going for a good price it's been for sale for a while so I say he would take a bit less.http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/boats/2563201

Unless I'm missing them, no PFDs or life jackets? Words almost fail me someone could be smart enough to build something so beautiful and yet.....

Please tell me I just failed to notice them or they're all wearing those American gimmicky waist belt PFDs.

Have to admit the same thought occurred to me. And some US states have passed some very tough laws on the subject but perhaps they don't apply here in Tennessee. It's far enough south for anti-communist laws like you don't need PFDs to apply.

They have to carry a life jacket for everyone onboard but don't have to wear it unless it's an auto inflate.

Yeah, did not want to comment on it but more worryingly the female is not wearing any eye protection. Hit a bee at that speed and........

The law should take second place to self-preservation and if you've ever hit the water at any sort of speed you'll know it can not only wind you completely but can quite easily knock you unconscious. The speed that baby is doing needs only a wake -as dramatically highlighted by the recent Fountain video- to spit bodies a long way through the air onto concrete-like water.

I've often noticed that people who discount PFDs usually have the same attitude to kill-cords. It's like fishermen I know who can't swim and even today won't wear PFDs because of fate!
