Folks what could I use to clean out a washer bottle? There is a bit of mould and a rotten smell out of it. Can I just leave some apc to soak in it or bleach or similar?

I have it removed from the car but due to its design I can't get a brush or anything into it to scrub.

maybe try some boiling water and vinegar. hopefully the bottle won't melt.

Try some alcohol as well; there have been medical reports of airborne diseases being spread to car passengers through wash wiper bottles festering germs (including legionella, legionnaire's disease). No doubt it's 1 in a million but it does mean I never leave it with just water.

I saw Kim and Aggie putting some sort of beads into a container and shaking it to clean it, can't remember what they used though.

    Maybe it was rice

A dishwasher tablet might do it too.

In that case I'd try warm water, dish washer tabs (or even better denture cleaning tabs) and vigorous shaking :D

I've been looking to clean out mine lately and found recommendations for a Milton tablet.

Mouth wash is another suggestion I've heard for cleaning the washer bottle.

If you're worried about bugs I'd use a mild disinfectant like Savlon, dilute according to the instructions on the bottle.

Heard that one also and tried it on the wife's Ka. seemed to do the trick.

It's rice. You can use it to clean the inside of thermos flasks and coffee pots along with whatever detergent/disinfectant you're using. Just give it a very vigorous shake and it'll remove limescale and scum. Don't leave it soaking, though!

Cheers for the ideas folks. I'll see what I can find lying about the house. No real panic to fit it anyway so it can be left to soak overnight if needs be!

Slight bread high jack here (sorry Sean!). I need to clean my washer nozzles. Any ideas? They're the "fan" type nozzles. Not the old style where you could stick a Lin in it to clean it.

Compressed air if you have access to a compresser
