    Hi Folks,

I have a 3 series but would love to upgrade to an M3. I want to get a feel for the car before making a large investment on one.

Is there anywhere you can rent and M3 or M5 for a day / weekend in Dublin?

I had a quick look online but couldn't really find anything other than 520D's to rent.

Anyone know where I could start looking?

You need to convince a dealer that youre serious about buying one.

Yeah can you not just test drive one?

I'd say any dealer would want a substantial deposit before handing over the keys. That tends to weed out the test pilots/tyre kickers from genuine interest.

Done that. I'm interested in having one over the course of a weekend to see what it would be like in my daily life.

I will talk to a dealer and see. I'm just surprised you can't hire one at all.

Car hire companies don't have them on their books because they are expensive to buy or lease, it would take them an eternity to make money from them and that means crazy rental rates on them. You also have the aspect of high insurance rates.

Dealers won't rent them because all they would get is test pilots renting them for the weekend, driving the nuts out of them and returning them Monday morning saying they are not interested in buying.

Sixt rent the F10 M5 in Spain - not much good unless you fancy a holiday to Spain

Walk into the dealer in a suit with a bag of money to show that you're serious.

My uncle lives in Germany. when i was younger he rented from a dealer for a weekend Audi TT for me.
Every time he is on the market for a new car he has no problem to rent different models for full weekend. ( mostly mercedes). As a deposit he leaves his own car. The only cost is petrol/diesel.
It is a pity it is different in Ireland.
