    Hi James

Just recently purchased the Allez elite 2013 via the cycle to work scheme, I am a complete novice when it comes to bikes so have nothing to compare it too but have had no problems and enjoying it so far. If your a newbie like myself I would imagine we would'nt notice the difference between bikes but could be wrong on that ?

Best of luck with your bike

Hi nd thanks for the reply , if you dont mind me asking how much was the bike and where did you buy it? Do you know what groupset is of the bike (gear shifters, cranks derailer and cassette) , its probably shimano sora or shimano tiagrA, thanks

From the link the groupset is tiagra.

If that's the case I'd suggest you could get more bike for your money if you shopped around.

Going by last years prices and the industry wide trend of a (roughly) 15% increase in prices I'd imagine it's knocking around €1200ish this year.

Yeah i think i will get the trek 1.2 20q13 as ut hs the new shifters on the drops

The 1.2 has Sora, which is a lower quality groupset.

Tiagra has 10 speed and fully interegrated shifters, sora have the annoying thumb down shifter.

Wrong, sora has been upgraded for 2013 so both shifters are on the drops now, plus im a beginner and strapped for cash

If sora have been upgraded, that's great! only difference now is 9spd instead of 10, which isn't much on an issue. How much will the 1.2 cost?

    Seems a decent deal.

You could probably get an end of season (last years) slightly better specced bike online for that price but from an LBS for a new bike thats a good price.

Alu fork being the only major downside.

    Hey,

I'm very happy with it so far, done over 500k with it anyway, will need a light service soon, it's a great bike overall.
