hi im new to the forum and i know this is a frequent question but which is more important when buying a first road bike, have my budget stretched out completey €900 range and have picked two bikes. the Giant defy 2 2012 with tiagra groupset and the trek 1.2 2013 with sora components. both are in the same price range , the frame on the trek is better and the groupo is better on the giant so im wondering does anyone have any advice. i know the whole get the frame that fits correctly and that so i just need advice,
i also plan to use the bike mainly for training and exercise as opposed to commuting. thanks james

Who said the Trek frame was better? At this price point the frames are all very similar in quality. If your looking to to do some training as opposed to commute then I would say go for the Tiagra equipped bike. Better quality, shifters in particular, and its always expensive to upgrade components anyway. Do change the tyres though!

    Enjoy it whatever you buy!:)

So your friend who works in a shop says its better to buy a Sora equipped Trek because it has better welds than a Tiagra equipped and similarly priced Giant Defy. Somebody wept!:D
