Volvo S80 "engine system service" message

Hoping for some advice please on my 2007 Volvo S80 D5 automatic car.

It recently had an oil & filter change and new brake pads fitted by my independent mechanic. He reset the "service due" message on the display.
Since getting the car back, it now has an "engine system service required" message on the display. When my independent mechanic scanned it with his diagnostic device, no fault codes show and the car is running well. He doesn't know how to remove this message and recommended that I go to a Volvo main dealer. I would rather not do this, as they are very expensive and the location isn't nearby. Is there some method I can use to clear this "engine system service" message myself?

TL/DR version - how do I remove the "engine system service" required message from my Volvo S80 myself?

    Thanks..

Really old thread, but i have the answer to this and im adding it in case anyone else searches for this like i did and not find the answer, The volvo D5 engine requires a very particular oil level, this is normally computer measured and balanced if your car is serviced in a volvo garage, If your oil level is over the target 70% when the engine is under pressure (Heavy foot) it can thro up a check engine light and "Engine system service required" message, The solution here is to have the excess oil removed before it potentially goes into the parts of the engine it shouldnt and potentially wreck it!

Hope this helps for anyone else that has this problem (As i did in the last week)
