Hi , I have been asked to deliver the lc accountancy course over 1 yr .

Is there any parts of the course i can omit?

I will be v much focusing on the examination given the 1 yr delivery.

Is there an IT part to the exam??

I have very much thrown in to the deep water so I would very much appreciate any help anyone can give me.

    T.I.A.

Why not get your hands on the old exams, that will answer specific Q's.

And I don't think there's anything really that can be left out

Students can answer Q1 or 2 from Q2/Q3 or Q4 so some schools leave out Q1 which is the final accounts and concentrate on the 60marks questions. Also some schools only concentrate on q8 or q9 and so some will only cover all budgets for eg. Can't see how you'd cover the course in a year. You will have to leave sections out to do that.

I agree about the one year thing , students are finding it tough going .

It is a FEC and all my students are adults with no previous a/c experience.

I did preempt this and warn that 1 yr was not enough , but was told to attempt it , imo it's pure madness!

I taught the Leaving Cert OL maths course to adults last year in one year. Its very tough going (and this was pass!)and you really will need to convince them that they have to work consistently and apply themselves.
Aim to cover the bare minimum they need to pass the subject first, then build up from there. If they are like my adults last year, then they are returning to education and may have forgotten more than they remember from school so particularly at the beginning, there is not point covering topics to the bitter end. Make sure they have the basics and then top that up as you go along.
