    Hi All,

Was looking to source a few young weanling heifers (CH /LM or BB), was wondering where would be a good mart to go. I know prices have fell back and want to take advantage of this, Looking for nice animals less than 500. I am based in Galway area. Does louughrea normally sell young calfs that would be just off the milk. Looking for any advice and tips :)

Nice continental heifer weanlings for under €500!!! No offence, but I sincerely hope you fail miserably. You probably will.
Have another think about your budget!

Lots of guys I've been speaking to are planning to hold onto these as they feel prices for them in the marts will be poor.. Many will be outwintered as hopefully they won'd damage land too much..

I agree, hopefully the prices stabilise somewhat.. The constant yo-yo, boom-bust price cycles are no good for farming..

Loughrea is on a friday night - sale kicks off at around 7pm.

Quality CH and Lm heifers are making more than €2 per kg. Any descent BB is making €3 per kg.

On a positive note - I hear that prices in marts were up this week with many farmers like yourself thinking about taking advantage of the reduced prices.

My budget is around right, seen some nice lim/ch bull calves 3-4 months old, in clare (donedeal) last wk, Guy was lookn between 520 - 540, and these were nicely shaped animals, only thing im on the lookout for heifers.

And these were bought in ennis,
