Seized Car Garda

A friends car was seized last night by the Garda. It was out of tax few months (fair enough) but it was later noticed after the car was seized that the garda wrote the wrong reg. number on the seizure form. Question is; where does he stand in terms of getting the car back/paying the fine with the garda making an error in their paper work? I have no idea how the error was made as its a complete different reg.

Don't think it matters to be honest, car has been seized for an offence.

I think what OP meant was that now his friend might have trouble to get his car back at all.

In any case the answer is no, you won't have any issues getting the car back after paying relevant tax/fines and no, you would not be able to get it back for nothing due to the garda's error.

He might be lucky, he could get a better car when he goes to collect.
