A realistic situation that frontline emergency services face on a daily basis. A colleague of mine, lucky that it wasn't worse considering the circumstances which I obviously can't discuss.

Well why mention it if it cant be discussed. One of them pointless posts

At a guess the reply was

    a) To express condolences to a colleague (possibly a friend)

    b) To point out situations similar to this happen frequently, as such the fact that injures are not more frequent is something to be grateful for.

    c) To state the injuries could have been a lot worse, that they weren't is something to be grateful for.

    d) stating they can't talk any further will prevent some people asking what the circumstances were.

    A: See above
B: Less pointless than your reply (and this reply!)
