Just wondering if there is any weekly radio broadcast paranormal show in Ireland that has a different discussion topic each week be it an FM station or just a web radio station?

i doubt you'd be able to generate the material. lets be honest, you'd need actual paranormal things to talk about.

The paranormal is a very very broad topic. It needn't be limited to ghosts and UFOs or rely on callers relating their own experiences to fill up air time nor need it be limited to things that happen in Ireland. Could just be an earnest discussion of all things weird, strange and unusual in the world. As long as it's decently researched and has a handful of people to call in it could be OK.

One hour a week isn't all that hard to come up with a different subject each week, might be an avenue for some one to look into whether it be just an online station for now.

There was a great one on Eastcaost FM that we were regular guests on. It was a shame it was cancelled. It always had good guests and decent listenership.

I'd say it all depends on how scientific the programme content is..if it's allowed to be a bit anectodal, tales, throw in a bit of folklore, that sorta thing... BUT
putting together any sort of quality programme requires a hell of a lot of work.

Guests would need to be very able to chat, very good research needed.

At then end of the day its a lot of time, and effort, expertise and research to come up with anything worthwhile.

I've recorded and edited comedy for radio, getting 5 minutes of quality, broadcastable audio is a chore for sure...

That's for starters. But, if there was a quality radio programme on the paranormal I'd tune in. But I'd probably be the first to turn the radio off it wasn't up to a certain standard.

I've stumbled acrooss a late night radio station on FM, not sure what it is, might be Truth Radio, might be some religious connections, but they chat about some pretty off-the-wall subjects. I'd say the paranormal wouldn't be too far out of their spectrum...give em a call/email.

It really needs to be on the FM network to get listeners. I found by running both a college FM and Internet radio that no one listens to internet radio.

Indeed, internet radio is totally specialist with a few tens of listeners in a lot of cases...but FM is largely regional, not unless one of the FM nationals would run with it...not the sort of thing they would take on on a regular basis or would probably have to be pitched to them from a media company...

not unless a regional makes a success of it and it gets syndicated...wish there was one though:)

If your interested in a paranormal radio show the best one i have ever heard is called Mysterious Universe. Its weekly, every thursday. Its not Irish but they have covered stories in Ireland before. Cant speak highly enough of it, check it out. Can be downloaded as a podcast.

i guarantee that even if you got it on FM, you wouldn't get enough listeners ... well, not the kind that can look further than mediums and psychics, and theres enough of that around.

Maccored, you can do our "downer of the week" segment

Just listened to the latest episode there and have to say it's a pretty well balanced take on the subject. Seems like two guys who have a good interest in paranormal phenomena but will treat some of the more outrageous claims with a skeptical eye and good humour.

i'll just be a realist if thats OK. people like to talk ghost stories, but there arent that many with a genuine interest in the paranormal per se. Theres zillions of paranormal shows around - mainly online - but nobody seems to be bothered to listen to them. Doubt they'd listen to an FM show either.

though Riamfada, if you did get one on the go, I'd tune in an listen to ye. I'd also ring up to complain, moan and bitch.

Anytime, I actually enjoyed your radio show if you can believe it. I know alot of locals you used to listen.

I'll just say it now Cormac, you yourself have become a huge negative influence here and every time someone puts in an opinion you don't like or agree with there is hostility and negativity. I know you'll say " i don't break the rules" or " everyone has an opinion" however the manner in which you put people down here is uncalled for.
I know your prob thinking " if you don't like it don't come here" but here is the thing this is not YOUR forum and even when we started falling out your own team members couldn't understand why you were acting in such a manner.
We had a great time working together but your elitist attitude is quite off putting.
Your idea of "contributing" here is plugging your money making projects and those of patronizing remarks don't make you look any better. When new people post everyone who has been around for a while should be understanding and supportive with constructive comments.
I really don't understand why no one has said this to you before but you really need a reality check.

God Dave - You surely have a bee in your bonnet. Take it to PM kiddo.

You can then tell me what youre on about. Then again maybe you wont as you wont have an audience then. Either way, good luck with that.

Well I'm putting myself forward as Radio Ghost Mammy and sort out the bickering.

In all seriousness I would tune in to a paranormal radio show once the presenters don't interrupt or shout over callers. Would be great if Specsavers sponsored the show.....

We (Dre and I) used to do it from Near FM in Artane. Im not sure if they were open to the idea of actually airing it but the recording studios would help and someone with the interest in producing it.

Im doing some paranormal pieces for Beat 103 this year.

A positive suggestion would be to drop Dre and I and use your real names..That way you might be taken seriously..Near fm is in Coolock not Artane by the way..I have been there for 9 years and never heard of you..And if it is ever to happen with me involved it wont be I see angels..

On boards.ie I don't use my real name and Coolock and Artane are pretty much the same place to a Southsider like me:p

I doubt you would have heard of me because you dont know very much about me other than a fake name and that I post on boards.

also I dont believe in ghosts or angels.

Not to drag this off topic but this country is really missing an opportunity to do a Coast-to-Coast AM style show on national airwaves. Everybody has stories and anytime anything remotely paranormal turns up, say Moncrieff or the like, it generates a load of feedback. I know Howard Hughes (not that one) did a paranormal show on Talksport a few years ago. I know a load of people listen to podcasts but I think there is a market here for it.

Will try my hardest to do something about it on Near fm where I work and I do'ntr like the word no..:)..Keep yee all posted..Will pitch the idea wednesday or thursday this week..

I would be interested to see what Gerry Ryan's figures were when he spoke about ghosts etc. Remember the family who had the little boy playing with the train set in the attic, or the family in Walkinstown who had the old lady called Margaret.

There is definitely a listenership for it.

Very strange to do that - can't figure out why somebody would do that.
