Ok Boardsies, Ive been following this thread for awhile so I finally made an account to ask a few questions.

I want to start a Cyclic Keto Diet and I've done alot of research on it (I think) and it looks like the diet Im after.

So I've a few Questions for anyone on here who has done the diet or something similar?

    1. I'm starting College soon and I know the first few weeks are all about partys and going out and so on.. so would I be better off to wait a few weeks until I start the Keto diet and do a full clean diet until Xmas? (If I last :p )

    2. I read on a few places online that People fast for a day or so to get into keto? Is this vital or would following the high proteins and high fats diet get me into Keto alone?

    3. I have figured out my requirements from the CKD calculater on this forum http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=784518&page=1
and my stats are in the attachment

Also I know im asking alot here but could anyone post up a 2/3 day version or there own diet or link me to a keto diet that I could follow because Im very bad at counting calories?

Sorry about the long post, and thanks for any responses :)

Perhaps just use the days you are going out as the carb refeed days?

I know that alot of people turn the carb-up days into 'cheat' days. So you could go VLC for the days leading up to a day your going partying and try to deplete your glycogen stores via workouts. Then your cider, pizza, red bull, and kebabs can serve as your carb re-feed. Far from ideal and far from healthy, but should work to a certain extent if you have your heart set on doing CKD whilst partying.

But to be honest, a CKD can be a challenging diet and is only usually used to get quite lean. Its one of those you should really only use when your disciplined with your diet and training, and just need an extra push getting some BF off.

The fasting is not necessarily needed. How quickly you 'get into' ketosis is just how quickly you can deplete your glycogen stores to a point where you start metabolizing fat rather than glucose for fuel.

You do NOT want a particularly high protein diet as this may actually prevent ketosis, as the protein can be converted to glucose. As a guide, protein need only be 1g/lb bodyweight.

I'm actually going to use a CKD myself for a month or so soon to drop a bit of bodyfat.

I know its mainly for reducing BF but tbh that is my main goal and Once the first week or so of college has come and gone and its calmed a bit I will give it a good go and try my best at it!

Thanks very much for the reponse and I hope all goes well for you with your keto diet.

  • Energy levels and concentration levels are low at the start of a Keto diet. You suffer from no-energy and flu-like symptoms for the first few days, as your body craves carbohydrates and hasn't started to realign to using fat for fuel.

You need to be very careful to remain in ketosis, and also to consume a lot of water to flush ketones. It's a disciplined diet, and one that people without regular routines and dedication can struggle with.

That being said, there's no time like today to start eating properly, and I've always found that starting a new "period" in life is a good time to introduce new routine to your daily habits.

Alcohol is not permitted on non-carb days, if you're not a big drinker this shouldn't be an issue, but starting college in Ireland can be a drink-fuelled month, this might get in the way. Only you will know if you can limit intake to 1 day per week (and in moderation!).

It might be worthwhile trying to get into a paleo - whole food style way of eating for your first month or so, and when you're confident you've cut the rubbish out of your diet (and that party season has ended!) then you can attempt to get into ketosis and do 6/7 weeks of dedicated and disciplined body fat cutting.

My opinion its a very hard diet to do in collage try just eating a bit healthier lower your carb intake maybe no carbs in the afternoon/night. Exercise regularly if your still not happy maybe tweek it a bit more so you lower your carbs a bit more , you dont have to calorie count just stick to basic rules of when you are and arent going to allow yourself carbs ( the later in the day it gets the more your going to want to elminate the carbs ). Dont get to bothered about about the drink your in collage enjoy yourself maybe try stick to coors light or vodka/gin and tonic water if you really want to,but if your a student id imagine you'll be on bavaria and dutch gold :) .

Im not trying to discourage you from doing the keto diet im just offering what i think might be a easier alternative . If you really wanna do the keto diet then go for it
