Hey. If you had €1000 to take a long term punt on a cheap stock what would it be? I know its not big money but its €1000 I can afford to lose.... Feel like a gamble..advice please...

USOP (strong possibility of a big share price increase in the next few weeks, slight possibility of it going bad in the same period). Check out the thread.

Simba Energy (SMB) are a good long-term option, as they are still in the early exploration stages, but I like their chances.

    I'm invested in both.

for me it'd be BOI. they are priced at about 8-9 c at the moment (mostly due to the economy & bad property loans they've issued). But for me...they are the best bank in Ireland (by best I mean most probable to return the govt investment & stand on their own the soonest). Also the other banks are pretty much 100% owned by govt, where BOI arent...again another thing to point towards full independence.

it will prob take a few years before you fully realise value in them...but i reckon its a good punt now
