Hi, just wondering if anybody has any good recommendations of places to stay in both Hong Kong and Singapore. Budget wouldn't be huge, so looking for somewhere reasonably priced that isn't a kip, and possibly in a decent location too (asking a lot I know). If anybody has any experience of hostels/guesthouses/hotels in these cities it would be much appreciated.

I was in Singapore 2 years ago and stayed in the Aqueen Hotel Balestier. I think it worked out at about 130euro for 3 nights. Its a nice little hotel in a good area. It's a little out of the city centre but there's a Metro station about 10-15mins walk away that will take you straight into the city centre. The room was a bit on the small side but was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.

What part of Hong Kong are you thinking of staying in? Hong Kong island or Kowloon? I stayed in Hotel MK just of Nathan Road in downtown Kowloon, it was about 150euro for 4 nights. Its in a great central location for Kowloon and the Metro station is only 5-10mins walk away to catch a train to Hong Kong island. This hotel room was really small but most hotel rooms in Hong Kong are unless you want to pay plenty of money. Again it was spotlessly clean also.

If you're just looking for somewhere to put your head down then these 2 hotels are fine.

I stayed in Singapore in Little India at the InnCrowd hostel. Really liked it there. Little India is full of cheap places to eat, right beside a metro station but is only a 15min walk to Clarke Quay (ie the centre). The InnCrowd has dorm rooms and private rooms, give free breakfast of boiled eggs and toast, free tea and coffee all day and have a nice common area.
