Just took off 2 front tyres (Michelin premacy) They were fairly worn down and had only been put on in apr of last year. The manufacture year on them was 2006 though. I was just wondering would 5 year old tyres have the same life span.

These were bought new from a fairly reputable (local) tire centre

I wouldn't be happy at being sold a five year old 'new' tyre. I have noticed over the years that online retailers seem to sell much fresher tyres than bricks & mortar outfits.

Anywhere selling tyres supplier by official importers will have the latest stock.

Many places in Ireland are importing stock from various sources in Europe and further a field at cheap prices due to our lax tyre regulations. The tyres are often old/discontinued stock.

I know for a fact that any tyres left in stock in Bridgestone Ireland that reach with 1 year of their manufacturer date are returned to the factory to be recycled.
