Well deserved too. A colossus in midfield.

    Thought Paul Murphy was awesome.

Great performances all over the field, canning, shefflin, hogan. James Skehill deserves a mention for his fantastic save. Iarla Tannian was superb!

I thought the Galway back line were outstanding also, especially Fergal Moore and Johnny Coen. First time that Kilkenny have failed to score a goal in a Championship game in over 5 years (the Wexford semi-final in 2007).

I thiught it was between Iarla and Paul Murphy, Shefflin did well in second half, didn't have a great first half from dead balls or in play and Cannibg vice versa, great first half didn't have a great second half from dead balls or in open play. Canning showed his balls by popping the last free. Iarla deserved it, felt Murphy didn't the recognition he deserved from last nights Sunday Game.

Personally, I'd have given it to Paul Murphy.

Iarla Tannion was definitely the best player IMO, Murphy was very good, but for the entire second hals he hasn't making anyone as Galway decided to play with no forwards, most cornerbacks will clean up in such circumstances.

He had an outstanding first half too when his big name colleagues were at sea.

Agreed, I have said he was very good, but for me Tannion and Sheflin were on a different level and another who I thought had a massive game and hasn't been mentioned here at all was David Collins.

Completely agree with this. The Indepentent gave both Collins and Niall Donoghue a rating of 5 which I thought was ridiculous, particularly for Collins.

Agreed- I was wondering what match Colm Keys was watching. Collins was immense and Donoghue while making a couple of errors was solid and chipped in with a score.

Also thought Donnellan's rating of 5 and Tommy Walsh's 8 was a bit ridiculous. While Donnellan obviously didn'y hit the heights of the Leinster final he did secure some good possession and won a few frees. Thought himself and Tommy largely cancelled each other out.

Geez, I didnt read theindependet. But 5 for Donoghue & Collins is awful harsh. I felt both did very well. All the Galway backs did quite well. They were under a lot of pressure.

I can understand Donnellans rating of 5

Walsh was more like a 6, at best
