    Hi all,

feel free to move this if its in the wrong forum!

I have a meeting in my local Fas with an "employment services officer" on Wednesday. I was just wondering if anyone has had one of these before? what's involved? Also, do I need to bring anything with me - like proof that I've been looking for work?

    thanks

If it's anything like the meeting I had with FAS, you'll be in and out like a fiddler's elbow!!
Bring your CV and proof of jobs applied for.

    Great analogy! :)

Just wondering what they'll say to me, like will they force me to do a fas course or anything?

    Hiya,

Had one of those a couple of years ago when I was out of work, very easy going it was, also found it very helpful as the woman I met explained that I could do any course that was on their website for (up to a certain cost) so I got the safe pass done, saved me a few euro, also put my name down for the forklift course but luckily got a job since then. List of courses are on their website, have a look through them, might find something that interests you. I must stress though that the FAS woman didn't force me to do any courses.

I arrived into this with cv, list of jobs I had applied for with contacts, and numerous other things.

It was all unnecessary effort, as they basically just tell you what you already know. In fairness, the woman I got was extremely helpful and got me onto a course I wanted for ages, so it is definitely useful.
