A full car licence has nothing to do with a motorcycle licence OP. This link will tell you everything you need to know

Cheers for the reply, so i have to do the exact same theory test again or is it one tailored towards motorcycles?

Also i want nothing more than 50cc

    Hope that's a joke!

Theory test, obtain learner permit, IBT and then road. You can't ride unaccompanied until after your IBT. Have a look at the link already posted ;)

OP, it's a while since I've looked at this type of thing, but back in 2007, a full Category B licence also entitled you to a Category M and W licence, W being a tractor/work vehicle and M being a motorcyle with an automatic transmission up to 50cc, so I may be the bearer of good news and you might not have to sit theory tests and get learner permits.
All that being said, I think you should clarify with your local Motor Tax Office whether this is still the case or not.

    Edit:
    From RSA website:
"M: Mopeds with a maximum speed of 45kph and an engine size of up to 50cc 16 years"

    45kph, yikes!

Wait 6 months and then you can apply for your full licence. Bear in mind though if you're stuck on 50cc you won't be allowed to drive on the motorway even with your full licence.

Do you have to do the theory test a second time if you have already done it once? I know there is a specific one for the bike but when I actually did it a few years back I was told when I went in to pick up the provisional bike license the one from the car would have done me.

OP: I'd check this out, maybe its different now with all the new regulations after being brought in but I was told I needn't have done it a second time.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/motoring_1/driver_licensing/full_driving_licence.html

"In addition, if you have held a driving licence for category B, C, C1, D, D1, EB, EC, EC1, ED or ED1 since before 21 October 2006, it is also regarded as a licence for category M."

Kinda true, maybe not for you.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
