Generally between 50 and 80 euro on adverts.ie.

Note the box will not record unless you have a valid subscription. Without a valid subscription you can only get BBC HD and 1 or 2 other HD channels (along with other non HD channels)

The Amstrad DRX 595 is the only 'standard' Sky HD Receiver available. Price around 50 euros from the likes of ebay.

If I swap my second (standard) box for a HD box will I receive the HD channels automatically or do I need a different card? I'm currently paying for multi-room and HD.

So you have a HD box in the main room and currently an SD box in the multiroom.

You want to swap the SD multiroom box for a HD box.

Firstly you would need to buy the HD box and install it in place. Then ring Sky to pair the old card to the new box. As to whether you will get all the "HD pack" channels the same as the main TV yes you will.

    It says so here:

I rang Cork at lunchtime, they said they'd give me the box for free but charge another €15 per month! Seems to contradict what they say on your link, mind you the guy sounded like it was his first day in the job.....

Edit - He must have thought I wanted an additional box. Doesn't look like I get to swap for free but online ordering is also fcuked up, place one item in the basket and it comes up a different price...

I know they were asking for 100 Euro to swap the main box from SD to HD. It was a once off cost. I would suspect something similar for a multiroom box upgrade.

If you buy a 2nd hand one and upgrade yourself there should be no charge. Just ask them to pair the card with the new box.

I have the same multiroom setup myself...HD on main tv and sd box attached to second tv. Also want to pick up a second hand hd box fo rthe second tv but a bit wary of buying from places like adverts.ie when I would not be 100% sure that I am getting a decent box until it is too late with no comeback.

Am considering cancelling HD and sports sub once ryder cup is over and see what they offer me...free hd box would be nice. Will give the lack of second hd box as reason for cancelling the hd part of sub.
