Thanks to the wonderful set up with the banks in this country, I have a debit card that will not work with Amazon or Paypal (eBay etc). I also get to pay fee for this privilege wanker.gif

Rant aside, where does this leave me? I presume it means I can only use Irish sites (which also happen to charge way more than UK ones, again, wanker.gif!

Budget of around 5-600. I am somewhat of a power user so nothing low-end preferably.

    Thanks.

Why don't you buy a disposable credit card?

I suppose I could, but it's hardly ideal is it? Apply for a card... wait a week for it to be posted, find a shop that uses it, walk into town with 600 quid in my pocket, hand it over then bring the receipt home and finally buy my laptop. Quite frankly that's a ridiculous effort to achieve a pretty basic goal. Would be less hassle just finding a friend with a credit card (which I may well do).

Appreciate the link, but if anyone knows of any good Irish sites to buy a laptop that would also be great.

If your friendly Argos is nearby

This laptop was recommended on boards before.

A friend said I could use their Visa so I guess my options are opened up.

Thanks for that Jarred, I'll have a look at the Argos site. One requirement I do have is dedicated graphics, as that was one of the main regrets I had after purchasing my current laptop.

See one on the Dell website, Intel Core i3-2370M (3M Cache, 2.40 GHz), 6GB ram, 1TB HDD, 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7670M for €649. Could I find similar for cheaper/better for the same price?

    Thanks

This doesn't tell us anything at all. What will this machine be used for?

    Evil things.

But also programming, web and graphics design and hopefully a bit of gaming too.

Basically more than just browsing the net and typing up essays :)

Oh also I have a copy of Windows 7 so if it's possible to save money by not having this included that'd be great.
