Try visiting a citizens information centre as a starting point.

Aw, OP that's a really crap position to be in...I'm so sorry. And for your husband to leg it leaving you alone to face the music with three young children is beyond the pale. Coward doesn't even begin to describe him and what he's done.

First things first. As Tony81 says, you need to get to the Citizen's Info ASAP. Is there a FLAC near you as well? Might be a good idea to get some sort of legal advice.

Do you know if any of the debt is in joint names? If not, then I would write to the banks telling them the debt is nothing to do with you.

What about your home? Is that in joint names? I would get on to the bank straight away and explain what's happened. If you're working, is there any chance you can get the mortgage interest-only for a bit?

Can't think of anything more right now. All I can say is 'Courage'. There's always a way.

Hi OP

I am so very sorry for the mess you have been left in -that really really blows - I second what the other posters have said. You need to come up with a to-Do list to get yourself back on the right track...

(1) You need to know where u stand with regards to money/finances and the debt you have been left with...
You need to Contact Citizens Advice..http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/
and then Contact FLAC - free legal advice http://www.flac.ie/

(2)You need to get some support - you say you have no family and no support - then you need to contact a support group like onefamily.ie
http://www.onefamily.ie/families/how-we-support-families/
or solo.ie
http://www.solo.ie/
There are usually parent support groups in most areas - google it for your area...

I'm sure that you're in a bit of shock and depression - totally understandable but you've got to tackle this head on - you have your kids to think of !!
Once you know where you stand with regards to the debt and the mortgage, you will be able to organise a battle plan to deal with it... but please please get some support for yourself... these organisations are there to help :)

Hope all works out for you OP :)

I am sorry about your situation op.

Yeah the first thing you need to clarify is how / if you are tied into the debt.
