    Hi,

My car has been off the road for the past few months and the insurance has expired. Just wondering can I put it in for an NCT if I get a family member to bring it to the test centre and transfer their insurance over onto it beforehand?

I ask this as I'm thinking of selling it so don't want to fork out for insurance!! (the tax is uptodate, only the NCT and Insurance have lapsed).

    Cheers

    JC

Costs about 20/30 quid a day for insurance. Don't see why not.

Only thing I would question is whether the person on the logbook has to present the car. ? I know they ask to see your licence.

The registered owner does'nt need to be present, but the person presenting the car for test must have ID.

...and you don't need insurance if it arrives on a trailer and they don't check to see it did even if you don't have it.

I'm glad you're not suggesting he does anything illegal.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Check does the family member have 'driving other vehicles' cover. Some insurance companies require the other car to be insured as well though.
