Golf warning dashboard warning sign's

hi

I have a warning light coming up on the dashboard its the one with the engine and a flash going through it. anybody know what it means. book doesn't have it in it

What year, model, engine etc is the car. It could be many things

Have you checked the obvious things like oil? After that, the last time that's saw that sign on the dash of a 1.4 golf, it was the lambda probe.

It would probably be best to get the car scanned by Vagcom to see what fault code is coming up

ye oil is grand. everything seems ok

I am fairly sure it's the malfunction indicator lamp, telling you that a fault has, will occur.
Most probably emissions, through the sensor in the cat...

hopefully so. only bought the car wednesday i am sending it in to get the timing belt done i will ask the mechanic to have a look.
