The Aldi for 2 weeks from 9th September 2012, all 59c

    Cabbage - Head
    Carrots - 1Kg
    Mushrooms - 250g
    Parsnips - 500g
    Lettuce (Iceberg) - Head
    Apples (Green) - 8 pack

At Tesco, from tomorrow until 23rd September, at 3 for €3

    Bananas - 5 pack approx
    Pears - 9 pack approx
    Apples - 9 pack approx
Oranges (Easy Peelers) - 8 pack approx

At Lidl, there is a focus on National Organic Week so the offers aren't there when the prices are compared to non organic fruit n veg.

    Bananas - 5 pack, for €1
    Peppers - 2 pack, for €1.49

At Supervalu, from tomorrow until 15th September, the 3 for €2 offer, making them 67c each

    Carrot and Parsnip - 500g
    Mushrooms (Closed Cup) - 250g
Apples (Royal Gala) - 8 bag
    Peppers - 2 pack
    Oranges (Easy Peelers) - 650g, approx 8
    Bananas - 6

The only offers I could find at Dunnes Stores until 16th September are

    Grapes - 500g for €2

I have seen grapes in Aldi consistently cheaper than this so bear that in mind if you are going to Dunnes only for the grapes.

Poor selection overall. Have the consistently cheap prices seen off the competition? Enjoy what is available and will update the thread if I see more offers coming on stream.

Thanks for posting. Not too much excitement in those offers... When himself sees cabbage in aldi, I'm sure there'll be a bacon bought. Still to hot for bacon and cabbage tho!

Lidl's organic bananas are €1 at the moment, so there's one thing to add to their list. They're a lot better than the ones from supervalu anyway, any I've got there in the last few months have been covered in black spots and tiny.

    Thanks for posting.

Worth noting that this price is for 5 bananas, working out at 20c per banana.

The Supervalu bananas are in bunches of 6, making them 11c per banana.

With 3 eating machines in our house, who live on fruit n veg, the current lidl bananas would cost me maybe €3 - €4 more for the week on bananas alone. If we spread that across all of our fruit n veg shop it is a considerable sum of money.

That is why I start this thread every 2 weeks to inform others like me who really need to shop around, even if it is for only 9c per banana.

Have added some info to the Lidl entry.

ps bananas with marks on the skin are usually perfectly ripe. If over ripe they are great in smoothies or banana bread.

Surly your stacked up with bananas from last 2 weeks of aldi super 6 ,

Do you like me go into aldi on a sat evening just before they change the super 6 and stock up on the 6 before they go back to full price , then you have a super 12 in your fridge on the Sunday evening

2 bags left. Will be gone by Weds at latest :o

Absolutely. We shop in Aldi on a Sat and Sun.

On Sat just gone we stocked up on the remaining Apples, Bananas, Pears and Kiwis.

On Sun it was Carrots, Parsnips, Mushrooms, Lettuce and Apples. It was great to have a different apple variety on.

Kids love carrot circles one day and carrot sticks the next day in their lunch box. A carrot cake will be made at the weekend. Parsnip fritters and parsnip crisps over the weekend. Last 2 weeks I discovered how much I love ripe kiwis, cut in half and the sweet flesh scooped out.

And all the peels and butts and skins go into the compost bin. :D

These are the times we live in

This is a great thread, I find it really useful. It's good to see things like fruit and veg on special offer cause usually it's crisps and crap.

Anyone remember last December when Aldi had 2kg potatoes for 15c in their super 6?
    Things have changed considerably.
