Buying a used car out of your own county

This might belong in the sticky above, but I'm looking for some advice. I live in Cork, but I'm finding the car I'm most interested in (3 series BMW Diesel 2010+) is priced 3, 4k more here than in Kerry or Waterford [just based on a quick search on carzone]. Any time I've bought a car in the past, I've gone down to the dealer, test drive, haggled, etc. Then up to a week later, I've gone down again to pick up the car and drop off mine.

Is there any way of combining these visits? If I have to drive 100-150 odd miles to find a bargain, I will, but I'd quite like to avoid doing it again 7 days later. I won't be rushed obviously, but by the time the first visit is over, I'm committed to the car I'm buying, so it's not like it's acting as a cooling off period, it's just so they can get the car washed and scrubbed and I clear 5 years of crap from mine.

Or do people usually go to a garage, make up their mind, and then drive away in their new car, and this week gap sounds weird? Could a quick phone call to the dealer before I arrive to have the car ready to move make any difference?
