I've been looking at picking up one of these.

Anyone have any experiences of problems or what to look out for?

It has to be a SWB as Anastacia will be driving it too if it snows so want's something compact. Thanks

    wouldn't go for a 2.5 myself, they're gutless (imho).

you'll get similar fuel economy from a 2.8 plus more grunt and a timing chain instead of the belt they use on the 2.5, so one less thing to worry about.

make sure if it's a jap import that it has been undersealed or it'll rust in no time.

watch out for lumpy idle (followed by cutting out after 5 minutes from cold) as it could mean the fuel pump seals are going which aren't cheap to replace as you have to take quite a bit of the engine bay to bits to do it.

(assuming you're going for an auto) check that the gear changes are smooth in both 2WD & 4WD and that it doesn't make any more noise (such as a low hum) in 4WD than it does in 2WD.

if/when it needs tyres, get yourself a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain TA K.O.'s and you'll be good for pretty much anything from road use, to mud, snow, sand or anything else you can find to drive through and they will last (almost) forever. they won't be the cheapest you'll find, but they will perform better as an all-rounder (in all seasons) and last considerably longer than any other tyre you care to mention.

can't think of anything else off-hand, but i'm just upgrading from a LWB 2.8L Jap import Paj to a 2007 new shape Shoggie this weekend, having had the previous one for (i think) almost 8 years and 100k. :)
