Hi, I'm starting a PLC this week in applied psychology. I was looking at getting into Social Science in UCD next year but I need to take one extra module to get the distinctions I need to gain entry into UCD. Does anyone know if its possible to do an extra module on top of the course to at least have a hope of getting into UCD.... Here's some links...

Thats the course I'm taking http://www.qualifax.ie/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=15

and next year I'd like to go into this https://myucd.ucd.ie/admission/fetac.ezc#DN550

Please help! Thank yooou :) x

The first link isn't correctly linked to whatever course you're doing. Although I find it odd that any Applied Psychology PLC course in the country wouldn't have at least 3 of the following modules
    Political Studies
    Media Analysis
    Intercultural Studies
    Behavioural Studies
    Human Growth and Development
    Legal Studies
    Social Studies

Could you perhaps have misread the entry requirements on the UCD website?

    Jaydoxx,

Given the subjects and the UCD link, I'm working on the assumption that the OP will be studying DCHSX FETAC Level 5 in Community and Health Services.

    http://www.fetac.ie/fetac/awardsDirectory.do?method=getMajorAwardDetails&majorAwardId=5440&fromPage=awardsByField

It would help if the OP could list the subjects that they are covering and the subject(s) they need to cover.

Ah I see. On the qualifax course finder, enter the name of a module you need to meet the entry requirements. And on the Award Name's drop-down menu, select the option; FETAC Component Certificate (Level 5 NFQ) to find where you may be able to take the module on an extra-curricular basis. I'm not sure whether it can be used as part of a full certificate though. Or if it would be accepted by UCD.

I'd advise you contact your course tutor or if there is someone who deals with FETAC applicants in UCD, they may be able to shed some light for you:)

    Thanks a million lads,
Was in uni last year but the course wasn't suiting me so I'm going back and trying something else.

    Human Growth and Development
    Child Development
    Applied Psychology
    Behavioural Studies
    Statistics
    Criminology
    Communications
    Work Experience

They are the subjects/modules I will be taking this semester, at least listed on the website. And on the UCD website these are the accepted modules/subjects:

    G20022 Political Studies
    E20008 Media Analysis
    E20169 Intercultural Studies
    B20004 Behavioural Studies
    D20032 Human Growth and Development
    B20132 Legal Studies

Correct me if I'm retarded and wrong but there isn't 3 subjects that match :( Thank anyway can always settle for ITT :)

Are you doing the FETAC Level 5 DCHSX?

You need to have Social Studies as a mandatory subject and that's not on your list. And then you need 3 from that list as well.

You'll also need to get all of your subjects done in the one academic year.

I think you need to have a chat with someone in your college. At the moment you will need to do an extra TWO subjects. Social Studies and one other.

Would it be possible to do these in a different college this academic year?

Not even sure if I'll like it, just have to do something with my life, otherwise the parents will be after me, yano? Was looking at a couple of courses last night, theres a decent looking one I might be interested in in DCU, just gunna head to Higher Options and see what the craic is I think... :) Thanks so much though :) x
