Insurance Question

A friend's son has had a bit of a bump. He's 21, on his first insurance and has scraped another car in a car park. By all accounts it's just a scratch, no dents and he and the lady driver of the other car swaped details. Now my friend was going to just pay for the repair to protect the son's premium, except it turns out that the other car is a company car, and the company want it to go through the insurance.

Can anyone suggest any way to get around this, other than appealing to their humane side?

You are obliged to report the accident to the insurance company under the terms of the policy. The third party could just report the accident directly to his insurers and proceed with the claim regardless of what your friend's son wants to do. And the only thing you could do in that instance is to repay the amount to the the insurance company.

As said above, the company can decide to go through insurance if they wish. It's their choice. If you want, you can reimburse the insurance company for the repair and it should be fine then as they are not out of pocket. However insurance repairs generally cost an awful lot more. A €150 repair quote for you could turn into a €400 insurance repair quote.

if they insist on going through the insurance, then that is what will have to be done and no doubt it wont be cheap, they may repair the dent and respray or the part completely (wing / door etc).
someone reversed into the missus rear passenger side door they put a dent about 1/4 inch deep & 3inch long, driver said go get quote from vw and we will settle,vw quote was mad money (cant remember exactly over 500 though) for replacement door even though i reckon it could of been popped out, no paint even broke on it, replacement car for 2 days while being fixed labour etc etc, driver ended up having to go through insurance.
if its because of his NCB that you dont want to involve insurance but company insist then his only option would be to repay the cost to the insurance company out of his own pocket. does he have ncb protection?

Thanks for the replies. I just presume he has no claims bonus, but I'm not sure. I'll mention the suggestions to him, thanks again
