Curling hair

    Hi all,

I want to try and get the hang of curling my hair. After many unsuccessful attempts, I am getting sick of try X, Y and Z and having no luck.

I want to have curls like this, they are the only kind that suit me.

I have the Remington pearl wand and Babyliss pro curl 2010. I refuse to buy any other curlers until I can get some sort of decent looking curls with the tools I have.

I find the pearl want gives tight curls, which isn't what I want at all. I need curls like the ones in the photo as anything else just doesn't look right on me.

Any tips on how to get those kind of curls? My hair is shoulder length, and frizzy, so I'd probably have to straighten it first before curling it.

    I use
A Babyliss wand it's quite a skinny one so leaves tight curls which I HATE but I find if I use it an hour or 2 before I head out it gives the curls enough time to fall. When I'm happy with how it's sitting I lace it with hairspray and that usually does the job :)

OP, i have the Pearl Wand as well and love it - if you're getting too-tight curls, you're wrapping the hair too tightly around it. Try leaving more space on the wand as you wrap your bit of hair around it. And go easy on the products as I find the Pearl Wand is good at holding curls without needing a load of hairspray.

If your hair is long and thick like mine how do you suggest leaving space?

Wrap less hair around the wand, so separate into smaller sections?

I find that gives even tighter curls! I'll try it again but I get loser curls when I put more hair on the wand.

I have long thick hair too and I think the Pearl wand is great. What I do is wrap the top part of each section near the root around the wand, and then wrap the ends around it seperately. It takes forever but I find the result is worth it in the end and also it lasts me all day without hairspray.

I have the wand and, heated curlers, curling iron and sleep in rollers and could NEVER get my hair like that. I love my wand but does not give this style. love those curls

I have the pearl wand as well and yeah, it is difficult to get loose curls. You could try what Ziegfriedgirl27 suggested, wrapping the top around the thick part and then doing the bottom separately, rather than curling the whole section around the wand at once. I also find using it on a low heat setting works to get looser curls. What I normally do if I just want my hair to be a bit wavy is I put it at 150 degrees and wrap large-ish sections around it, then scrunch in some mousse when it's done. It doesn't give as defined a curl as what you have in that picture, but it's worth messing around with different heat settings and sections of different thickness.

Have you got the slim remington pearl wand ? I used that when I had my hair cut into a bob and it was fine for that length.

But it's growing now and I have my micro ring extensions so I bought the thicker pearl wand 2 wks ago now and I love, it's almost double the thickness so wider curls.

It is. If I want long loose curls I need to do each bit of hair in halves.
Also, as somebody said, the bigger the barrel the looser curl. When you wind your hair around the narrow end of the Pearl wand you end up with a tighter curl at that part.
Just experiment and see what works!
