Ok let me explain this a bit.

My G/F bought a Jap import Auto Nissan March,

She had it a few days driving around and nothing was wrong.

She wanted to get an alarm fitted for safety.. So I asked my mechanic friend to recommend a person. He put me in touch with the guy his job uses,,

I went over dropped the car off.. collected a few days later..

The next day a strange thing happened. I was driving it ( as he only starter her lessons - I was driving to car park so she wouldn't hit anyone lol ) -- When I indicated right / left and pressed the break sometimes he made the same noise as when the car was in reverse gear. Not sure if all automatics have that beeping.. i think it's to let you know your in reverse and not drive.

I thought it might be a one off thing.. But then is started to happen more and more.

I narrowed it down the the following... it only happens when

Head Lights are on Full ( not full beams - normal night time driving lights )
You are indicating left / right
Stopping the car / pressing the break.

    Strange I know.

I rang the alarm guy and he said to bring it over.. Lucky for me it did happen while he took it on a test drive.

He is adamant anything he done couldn't not have caused it and it sounded like a dodgy earth to him.

Have any of you ever came across anything like this ?

if you driving during the day ( no lights on ) it doesn't happen.

While driving at night with lights on and not turning it doesn't happen.

If you turn and break without indicating it doesn't happen.

it's only when all 3 things come together that it happens.

The alarm guy said it's like looking for a needle in a haystack as it's not a constant fault.

    Any ideas :)

    thanks.

Probably a bad earth in one of the rear light clusters. Have someone else put on the indicator and press the brakes while you look at the lights at the rear of the car and see if anything unusual happens. Failing that then temporarily remove the reversing light bulb(s) and see if the problem persists.

    I'll give it a go.

The thing is it only happens when the headlights are on ... lol... I know it's strange.

    thanks.

Some of the jap yokes have an extra lamp beside the indicator to provide illumination to the side when you are turning. The lamp only comes on when the headlights are on, and the indicator is flashing. Alarms are sometimes wired to the indicators. This may be your problem.
