Noticed since the vrt was lowered for low co2 diesel cars that a lot of main dealers have used diesel imports for sale . Just wondered what way these cars are coming into the country ? Surely most main dealers aren't travelling all the way to the uk themselves ? Are there trade dealers here selling them or do they turn up at the likes of merkin and wilsons auctions ?

the likes of 2008 low emmison diesels are hard to get domestically (as the economy tanked in 08 and car sales plummedted), so importing is widespead. They use agents in the uk to source and buy and get transported back to Irl. I act as an agent for a number of dealers and buy cars, transport them back for dealers and indeed, myself.
Merlin and Wilson don't do this metal, all they do imho, is scrap.:pac:

The likes of large main dealers are sourcing them through their similar dealer network over the UK. The likes of BMW for example source their used Sterling collection through the BMW dealer network as BMW UK and Ireland are the same company meaning they come with an offical BMW used car warranty.

Small time dealers tend to source theirs from smaller garages or the likes of auctions where the cars are selling cheaper.
