Vegas Choice: Luxor or Hard Rock Hotel?

I'm on hotels.com and about to book my stay in Vegas. Luxor is on the strip and is NZD340 and Hard Rock is just off the strip and is NZD305. Which one is the best? Hard Rock sounds like it could be cool but I'm not sure. Also, the room in Luxor is bigger. We've looked at other hotels but they are out of our budget (we're at the end of a RTW trip). We'll also be going mid week so it's a lot cheaper too.

Also, when using hotels.com, once we've book and paid for the hotel, can we just print off a copy and show it when we arrive or will the hotel need our card instead? I figure, since we're paying up front on hotels.com the former should be fine?

Any help would be great. We're booking it in the next hour or so.

Those prices are based on 3 nights stay

Luxor is basic 3* nothing fancy but very reasonable. I've stayed there twice, no complaints. If you like a livelier feel try Hard Rock, tend to be more nightclubby.

Hard Rock is further from the strip than it looks on a map. Stay on the strip if possible, even if the Luxor is the second to last hotel at one end of the strip. Off strip and you will pay through the nose for Taxis. Was there last November and it instantly became my favourite place to visit and I'm definately going back.

So Luxor it is I suppose. Any quick comments on the rooms/facilities/casino? And finally, what are your thoughts about what I mentioned regarding making a reservation through hotels.com?

Yep I'd go Luxor too, Hard Rock is a nice bit out. If you're paying the full amount on hotels.com all you need is the confirmation number. Even if you forget that they'll have your name but always handy to have it just in case!

If you are looking for lower limit tables Excaliber next door is a bit more low rent and is hysterically themed. Worth a giggle.
