    Hello - first post :-)

My knowledge of tax accountancy is slim....my two year Irish saving account matured a number of months ago. I have been living & working in the UK for the last four years and what to claim for DIRT tax back on the interest. I have downloaded the IC5 form. As part of the form, i need the UK tax authorities to certify that I am a resident of the UK for X years and that the income to which claim relates is liable to tax under tax reference number ?

What is the reference to "liable to tax under tax reference number" for? What is it used for? Also how long do you think it would take HRMC to complete and send back the form? Thanks

What it is saying is that you owe the tax not to the Revenue Commissioners but to the HMRC. Hence why you are getting a refund from Revenue. Have you declared the income to the HMRC?
