Ring the ISPCA, they may be able to look after it, if not a vet. As far as I know all bats are fully protected so once it's nursed back to health it should be released. If it can't be treated it will have to be helped along as painlessly and quickly as possible.

Carefully checking for fractures may be a good start if it's nearly immobile.

Have it in a box with a lid with a tiny drop of water and a cloth to cling on too daping over the side.its just curled up the corner now

Was thinking might be tired or dehyrated from the sun.Could be just dying too not sure

"If you have any questions about bats that you need answered immediately - for instance if you have bats entering the living area of your house - you can call the National Parks and Wildlife Service Freephone Bat Helpline 1800 405000 during office hours. Alternatively you can try our Batline 046 9242882"

taken from irishbatconservancy website, just google Irish Bats

You've probably done the best you can for now. Just keep it quiet and in the dark until you can talk to a knowledgeable 'bat person'. They don't normally fly about during the day, so don't let it out in daylight. Also best not to handle it as their wings are quite delicate - and you could get bitten!

If you can't get through to the number above, ring you local vet for advice.

I don't think bats can take off from the ground so... Maybe think about putting him on a tree branch

Any food i could leave near it?

Well, they eat insects like moths and whatever else is out at dusk and dawn, but i really feel that you would be best off leaving it to rest, as it may be in shock. If it does fade away during the night, you can console yourself that it'll have done so in relative comfort thanks to your efforts.

bats can take off from the ground if it is level. Hold it in your hand and gently open its wings. Breaks and bruises will be obvious if you look with the wing against a strong light. If all is well keep it in your hand until it warms. Offer it water from a cotton bud. Never give a bat cows milk. Once warmed place it on a wall nd keep a eye on it.

DSPCA up off Stocking Lane near Firhouse / Knocklyon will come & collect it from you and do what they can for it one way or the other if you ring first thing.

If it has a cut in the place you say then it has possibly flown into something and done wing damage I've actually seen one or two like this and both flew off within 3 days
Water is essential now tho as its weak so needs it more than food at moment
For food mealworms and can be bought at a pet shop
I found bats before and happily they eat mealworms
At night I placed the box outside for half hour each every 2 hours to allow them to fly off and after 3 days flew off
I could look at it of you want

Another thing try not to handle it bare handed
They can bite and carry diseases
    Pm
Me if you want me to look at it
