I decided to wire a turbo timer into my corolla for funzies :)
i have it wired correct to best of my knowledge. now the electrics stay on for the extra 30 seconds but i cant get the engine to stay ticking over and it does say it works on non turbo cars. any ideas???

    1. Do you have a chip in your key for an immobaliser?
If so no dice unless you fit a bypass module for an alarm? (i wouldn't)
    2. Have you it wired correctly both lives at the ignition?
      Test with multiplier

I could ask why you have a turbo timer but they are useful around Christmas to warm the car up without the keys in it. But each to their own.

i have a button for central locking, dont have an immobaliser and there not alarm. yes i have the 3 lives connected. one for mains 12V (constant without key) one for acc1(first turn with key) and one for acc2(second turn with key) all connected. all checked with multimeter as well.

i had it lying around so putting it in because i was bored :)

Does acc1 and acc2 stay live when you turn off the key?

Is there a handbrake safety wire?

What your describing sounds like you have your ignition & acc wires mixed up. Make sure the wire your connected for the acc2 remains a constant 12v when your you go to start the car, (not 12v prior to start then drops to 0v and back to 12v once started)

What brand is the turbotimer? Make sure you also dont have the acc1/2 wires from the timer itself mixed up

its an apexi one. this is how i have it. vcc is wired to constant 12v from car. acc1 to acc1 and acc2 to acc2. would i be right in saying u mean switch vcc to be wired to acc2 and acc2 to be wired to constant 12v from car.??

    that didnt work either

No, I ment make sure your acc2 is staying at 12v constant when your turning the car over if its not you have the wrong wire, make sure your connections are good too. If the above is ok then try switching acc1 with acc2 if you havent already.

yeah acc2 is staying at a constant 12v when turning over. ive tried switching the wires and was getting nowhere, i can get the electrics to stay on but not the engine. i think ill have to give up and accept it doesnt work

The only time Ive ever seen what you describe is the wrong ignition cable tapped into and handbrake cable wire not attached
Just to double check too that you have the handbrake wire connected correctly? did you buy it new or secondhand?

yeah i brought it new from japfest a couple years ago bt never got round to doing it till now plus changed car since i brought it. the handbrake is def connected alrit. something i noticed is there is seven wires going into the ignition. 2 of each it seems and i dont know what the other is. think its a ground wire. i may chance trying the others and see if thats makes a difference tho im not sure it will

Why would you want a turbo timer on a non-turbo car? The clue is in the name
