Insurance - Zurich or Aviva?

I'm up for renewal at the end of this month. I'm currently with Zurich and have been for 6 years. I'm thinking of changing broker as I don't think they have been doing much for me at all and I shouldn't have to be checking up on them to get competitive quotes. The following have all come back within EUR 60 of each other. Is it worth my while switching to Aviva? Their industrial relations issues would sway me a little towards Zurich.

Quote 1 Aviva Broker Motorchoice Value
    Quote 2 Zurich - SureStar
    Quote 3 WrightWay Elite
    Quote 4 Zurich - Motorstar
    Quote 5 Zurich - Jardines - Motorstar

    In order of increasing premium.

Get a quick quote from No Nonsense or similar, and tell your broker the (hopefully cheaper) premium.

Make them compete to retain your business.

I'd steer clear of the motorchoice Value - high excess on that and not sure but no windscreen or driving other cars. Other than that no problems with any of the other companie - much of muchness.

Have you tried www.insure.ie or www.123.ie (who are agents for RSA)?
No need to use a broker for Aviva - you can deal direct with them, their web rates are better than their call centre rates. (I'm with them at the minute, along with the missus). I was with travellers for a few years (via insure.ie) but they pulled out of the market.

+1 to this. I got my house insurance renewal the other day, just over €400. I ran the broker (123) this morning and they knocked over €60 off the quote - all I had to do was ask "is that your best price?". It's always worth the time for a few phone calls or filling in a few web forms to see if you can shave off a (good) few quid off the quoted premium.

Do they all have the same benefits?

cover on other cars / legal fees cover / low excess / wind shield cover / breakdown assist etc?

Yes, you need to examin the small print and compare the level of cover of each policy. Some may have a higher excess than others or step back protection of your NCB instead of full protection. Other things like windscreen cover or breakdown assistance can also be ommitted to make a lower base premium look more attractive.

They all had the same headline benefits. None had Full NCB protection. Staying with Zurich would probably be beneficial for this seeing as I have a long standing relationship.

Nope it won't - but their policy will be fairly okay as they go so i'd say go with it. I've had people insured with the same company for 20 years and the insurance company will still feck them over if they have any way of getting out of the claim!
