    Evening,

Could be a bit early for all this or could be the right time. Heading to Cheltenham next March and want to know when would I need to get my arse in gear Re: Accommodation and tickets, I know B&B's etc sell out fairly quick.

Anyone that's been can you recommend some hotels or b&b's please (nice and cheap)? And what is the best way to sort out tickets?

B&B's are quite expensive unless you want to stay outside. Give Liz Coe a ring for prices (google her or use facebook)

Think tickets are onsale from the end of august or the start of September. There might be discounts for early purchase. If under 24 price membership of the 18-24 club.

Cheers colonel, Even Premier inn is £435 for 2 people for 3 nights

Will have a look for liz coe now, Thanks for the info. With regards to tickets which is the best to go for i.e. Best mate Tattersalls enclosures.. And is access to the parade ring included with all these tickets?

Best Mate tickets won't give you access to parade ring as they're across the track. Tattersals are what you want at the very least, as far as I can remember you can't even get out to the main stand with those.

Prices really seem to be increasing yearly, I was quoted £60pppn for the November meeting in a B&B. It's gonna be a minimum of that in March

    This is Liz'a website:

    http://www.cheltenhamracingaccommodation.com/

Best Mate doesn't give you access to the parade and I've heard that the crowd can be quite rough. I've often found it easy enough to sneak into club from Tatts too ;)

Just had a look at the map there, Won't be getting Best mate anyway i'd like to be over by all the main action. What do you mean you can't get out to the main stand?

Accommodation is ridiculous loads booked out already, Rest of them stupid rates. Would it be very unfeasible to stay outside the village?

You could stay as far away as Bristol/Birmingham

Obvious problem is you have the time & expense of travelling to the races and back daily and you'll have your eye on a train time table if you want to go for food/drinks in town after

I've never done that but a few friends have.

    Just looking at tickets

The advance Tatts prices are reasonable enough

    Tuesday: £35
    Wednesday: £35
    Thursday: £35
    Friday: £49

Best Mate is £22, that's "upgrading" to Tatts would be the best £13 you could ever spend

Might put some feelers out to see if some of the lads might go for 2 days ;)

Looks like we'll be staying in Gloucester, Friends stayed in the Ibis hotel there last year said it was fine. They paid 50 pound for a 7 seater every day each way to the track though which i wouldnt fancy so id hope to see if there's a bus or train into Cheltenham?

I would recommend Club Tickets for the Friday as the place is very busy and if you want any comfort at all,you will need club tickets.
I've gone last 4 years - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - Tatts one day and Club other two. Club is expensive though and if your bets aren't coming off, it quickly turns into a very expensive day.
This year I'm just going to go on Tuesday, Wedensday I think.

    Tuesday: £35
    Wednesday: £35
    Thursday: £35
    Friday: £49

The advance tickets are good value as on the day they're about £10 dearer. I think it was about £30 extra a day to get into the club enclosure, but we used Racing Post membership badges from 2010 this year to get in and they never noticed :pac:

I was over for three days this year, we stayed in Bristol at a cost of €40 per night each and got the train everyday. On the Wednesday we just went out in Cheltenham and got the first train back, two hours sleep and back on the train to Cheltenham again.

We stayed in the Cheltenham Park last year. Expensive though, but you can put a good few into the rooms and the bar stays open until 6-7am.
Just buy the Tattersalls tickets and sneak into the Club.

Maybe you meant the Guinness Village within the racecourse! Sure, loads of people stay in it all day!
