No prior Accounting knowledge

    Doing acountancy in UCC at the end of the month without having done it for the leaving cert,anyone had this expeience before?Should i do a crash course of some LC revision book at the start or will it take just a little extra work in college for the first couple of months?Cheers.

    it depends i suppose how serious you are taking your studies. my advise would be to get your hands on some Leaving cert material to become familiar with double entry and some accounting principles. good luck with it

    Pretty sure the course assumes no prior learning. And if you're smart enough to have gotten into UCC you'll be fine.

    No harm brushing up on the basics before then though. Good luck.

    I was in the same position when I started Accountancy in WIT about 7 years ago. I did not do a crash course on LC Accountancy as I felt I would not have the basic knowledge to understand and only confuse and dishearten myself.

    Instead in class i attended all lectures and put in the extra work, but the majority of the lectures taught the course as though no one had done LC accountancy. Granted those that had, definately had an advantage at the beginning, but now I'm fully qualified so obviously the playing field leveled at some stage.

    Just put in the extra work at the begining and it will pay off by Christmas. :)

    Attend your lectures and tutorials and do any practice work and you will be fine.
