Today I had a phone interview with an American man for an Ireland-based job I'd absolutely love. He invited me to send a follow-up email, which I've already done. I've found the company on LinkedIn and am wondering if ye think it would be or a good or bad idea to send him a connect request? I really want the job but would hate to appear desperate or pushy.

One thing I'd mention, that I'd only realised really recently, is that the automatic settings on LinkedIn are that everyone you view can see that you viewed them! Maybe this was common knowledge to most, but I'm new to LinkedIn and hadn't realised. Sure I'd been stalking interviewers and ex-colleagues (and ex-boyfriends!) all over the place!

You can change it in settings anyways.

Anyways I'd say definitely send him a request - it lets him know you're interested in the company, and sure it's always a good thing to expand your industry connections. I don't think it would seem desperate at all.

Be careful.....only send the link request if you have a very good profile on LinkedIn.
Make sure it matches the pitch you made via your resume and interview.
To be honest - I would error on the side of caution and avoid it. Adds nothing to your cause.

Thanks guys. I've just found that his profile is completely private anyways and the only way I can contact him is through Inmail or whatever it's called. Which would be pointless as I've just emailed him.
