Minimise the power of party whip system. In my view it opposes democracy to some extent.
Get rid of nepotisim in our system (civil service ect)
Bring in a health service like Canada's.
Fund the sciences in this country, particularly medical research.
We have a fantastic heritage and history and we need to advertise that. Any friends from America who come over here dont understand why we hide our heritage.

Only thing is the alcohol lobby is very strong in Ireland for it to ever be banned/restricted...

Surprisingly there are many people who still believe alcohol is good for you and it is alarming the amount of people in hospitals who are in because of some alcohol related illness. But then I'm not saying anything new here. I just believe people need to seriously re-evaluate their attitude towards drinking here...

People like this..who pay lots of tax on their lots of alcohol to fund the health system thats giving you care. Talk about ungrateful

It is quite true that we really need to move to a more vegetarian diet to prevent serious food shortages in the next few decades.

It takes significantly more land, water and resources to graze and grow cattle than it does to grow vegetables/grains. Western diet is very imbalanced in that we consumer too much meat and not enough vegetables. This put strain on the environment as increasing population increases the demand for meat which increases the demand for land and resources to graze more cattle/sheep etc. And there's also the big health problems of people getting bowel and colon cancers due to a diet rich in red meat and poor in vegetables.

If farmers started to grow more crops and we changed our diets to a more vegetarian diet, then it'll solve lots of food shortages, will be better for the environment and will save money too...

Money the HSE ends up spending on treating their illnesses which they wouldn't have had if they didn't drink as much...

Anyone got any figures on how much alcohol tax goes into the HSE and how much it costs HSE to treat people with alcohol related illnesses??
