Using a combiner with RF out on a sky box with one of the Satellite feeds

As the title says, would a combiner work for using one of the sky HD feeds from the dish and the RF output to another room?

Basicaly there is 2 RG6 cables in the wall, both being used for the satellite feeds into an HD box. I want to put in a RF feed with magic eye in another room but dont have any way of putting in another cable. My guess it wont work as the magic eye use's the 9v output on a sky box and the satellite feed uses the power pass on the combiner?

You can use something like this DC inserter to power the eye.

its a hard one, im not convinced that it would then send the remote control commands back to the box?

Any satellite/terrestrial diplexers I've seen claim to pass frequencies as low as 5 mHz, so shouldn't be problems with the 7 mHz remote signal, as far as the diplexer is concerned anyway.

Why not just use a Stacker/Destacker for the 2 sat feeds to come down one cable and use the 2nd cable to use as rf out to the secondary room...simples...

    sounds expensive?

Approx around €80-90 for a stacker/destacker system...worth it when its the only way when they first came out they cost in the region of about €180....

A stacker/destacker? Why wouldn't the diplexer & DC injector work?

you could use a stacker/destacker if sky plus is needed...

or an diplexers if normal sky box is needed...

He has Sky+, he wants to combine RF2 on one of the cables & send it "up" to another diplexer, for splitting off to the remote tv location.

The u will need a stacker destacker to send them two sat feeds down one cable and use the second cable as your return pathway.

What do you think is the problem with the satellite IF, Sky box UHF output & magic eye 7 mHz signal sharing the same cable?

U could try it but i doubt it would work....but could be wrong.

its a tricky one alright lads!

Two diplexers and one power inserter between the displexer and Sky eye and TV WILL work.

    The setup is

    Skybox RF2 --diplexer
    diplexer2---power inserter--sky eye--tv

    Ok thanks for the advice

    Never tried it.
I doubt the 5mhz return signal would get through.
The combiner splitters I use (triax), do not pass VHF or lower. They are Sat IF/UHF diplexers. I did try once to send VHF TV (175-200mhz) through them and it did not work at all.

I'd try it before I'd bother with a stacker/destacker (not guaranteed to work, by any means). If the remote signal didn't get through, you could more than likely use a wireless remote sender & still be quids in ...

An item like this will work as long as a power inserter is used to power the eye. The frequency range shown on it covers the sky eye. The sky eye seems to use a 7Mhz return path.
