We've yet to book a DJ for after our band, hotel are recommending mrdj.ie who's pretty local there.

Anyone have any experience of them? Website seems okay and they've a few thanks and recommendations on their facebook page but as we all know that could just be mates etc.

Ask your hotel can they reccomend one? They usually have a list of preferred suppliers , failing that, if there are other hotels in the area, download their wedding brouchure (or ask their wedding coordinator) and usually in the back they have their list of reccommended suppliers so if the same name keeps cropping up you will know you are on to a solid thing.

This is the guy they're recommending, I'd just like to get some independent recommendations before going any further!

Personally Ive never heard of him and I know a lot in the industry. On the flipside the site is nice and informative but then about half of the testimonials are for 21st, which are a different kettle of fish. Getting on a recommended suppliers list can be easy or difficult depending on the venue and some of them will take a cut of the djs fee. I'm on the supplier list in a few places where I had to supply at least two references from previous gigs in that venue and in other places where I just had to send my details. I don't think I've had booking that I could attribute directly to any of them either although it may have helped when getting other inquiries through other avenues for these venues. Hope this helps and you can't go wrong with another local wexford based agency prodjs.

The up lighters he says he can provide at a discount can be expensive to hire in on their own but if he puts them in, ask will he link them to his DJ lighting rig. If the up lighters are any good he can run links to them so the whole room looks great when he's playing so the whole room changes colour at the same time. Ive seen costs up to 500-600 quid to get these in but if he's there anyway I wouldn't expect anywhere near that.

Local guy wont charge you much on petrol either.

I didn't need to ronn, luckily for us, my brother plays in a band that used to specialise in weddings and they're playing for us as a wedding gift. :)

Hey Guys, just seen this thread while I was on google there, I guess just to introduce myself, I'm MR DJ or William Gilligan, I’m based in Gorey Co Wexford, I have been DJing at weddings for ten years plus now, just to answer a few of the above quires, you are right a lot of web site testimonials can be fake or just "mates" but for my web site I wanted to ensure this would not be the case and that’s why I have a profile picture for most of my testimonials, a lot of people who book me would like my face book page or add me as a friend first so they can have a look at my stuff before they book so there pic is then included with their testimonial, I thought this would be a good way to show my testimonials were real for want of a better word...some of my testimonials are for 21st and yes they are a different kettle of fish and a total different setup from that of a wedding...a lot of people who book me have seen me play at a friends wedding or they come see me play at a wedding, like they do for a band....while I have a good bit of stuff on my web site my two face book pages one personal and one business page have a lot more images and weekly updates on them and a lot of past customers also leave testimonials there too, I guess its easier and quicker for people to use nowadays....I do the up lighting too and yes they can be all linked up and you can have the whole room changing color, looks really good but costs a bit extra as there is a bit more setting up involved ...I also do custom gobo's again full folder of pictures on my face book pages....I’m not on that many hotel lists and like that person said its quite hard to get on the supplier list as the hotels want to ensure you're good enough etc at least this has been my experience…hope this is of help and feel free to contact me or come see me play sometime, ill insert the links to my face book pages below…..Regards for now William aka MR DJ 087 2982680
