I'm planning a camping trip with a few friends, we're looking for somewhere out near-ish Galway (1-1.5 hour drive). Ideally we'd be looking for a forested area, somewhere relatively isolated. Anyone know of any good spots?

camped near Lough Inagh past Recess before

you go in from the forestry gates and kind of keep right on the forestry track, til you end up heading along the side of a froest heading back eastish. in ther forest just there there's lovely soft moss beds to camp in comfort and running water nearby

It's probably between the text "lough Inagh" and the ridge (black bit) west of that.

Wow, sounds ideal, especially the access to water. Do you know if the forest is run by Coillte or whether its private property or not? Also just curious as to where the forest gates are, are there any parking facilities? Thanks!

There's a wide gateway into the forestry, big enough for the 3 cars that were there when we came back, and not blocking the gateway or roadway.

I'd say Coillte own the land
