I have lost (well think i have) my only key to my Audi TT 2005 model. I rang audi there... they are looking for 70 euro to reprogram and 190 for the actual 3 button flip key. I dont think i can get out of Audi programming but is there anywhere i could get the actual key cheaper preferable around Dublin??

    cheers

    Eoghan

Yes but I'm guessing you had one to copy. In the ops case I'm reading that he has lost his only key for the car in which case the car will need to be brought to a dealership and programmed using the Audi diagnostics. As for a cheaper key I've been looking for a cheaper spare myself for a passat (same key) and there doesn't seem to be any reliable options apart from the main dealer, plus I'd be very surprised if a main dealer would program your key if you didn't buy it from them.

At a reasonable guess the price breakdown would be something like:

    Spurious key:

    Key €100
Getting a locksmith out to read the profile of the lock for blade cutting. €100
Cutting the blade ( remember this isn't a normal type key cutting ) €40
Bring car to garage to get coded €80
Coding if they'll even do it €80

    Genuine key:

Key which comes cut €180 and in some cases will come already coded to car if ordered by chassis number ( rare but sometimes it does happen )
Get car to garage to be coded€80
    Coding €80

    Prices are all approx

Doesn't take a geniuse to figure out which route is best.

Would your insurance cover a new key? What would happen if the car was stolen would the insurance pay out? Just wondering.
