Question on a Microwave...

    Hi Folks,

This may seem like an odd question regarding a microwave. I want to use a microwave for steaming wood. I know its not a problem with pieces that actually fit into the unit as I've done it but I'm thinking bigger now. I'm qualified in Electronics so I do have some clue regarding micowaves but what I'm wondering is would it be relatively safe to cut a hole in the door of the unit and one at the back so I could fit long lengths of wood? It would be a fairly tight fit and no gaping holes as such. Certainly I'd be standing away from the unit while activated. Just wondering if its possible?

    Cheers

    Rich:D

Why would you want to steam wood? Surely there's an easier safer way of steaming wood?

Thanks a lot. I am aware of the other methods for steaming wood, ie the steam boxes but the reason why the microwave is better is due to the nature of the microwave boiling the moisture in the wood from the inside out. It also take a fraction of the time on small pieces.
I'd like to do it with the microwave on a slightly larger scale though...

It may also boil you from the inside out

I'd be avoiding that mate sounds far to risky gunthering a microwave to steam wood.

If there was an easy way such as this there'd be videos all over you tube.

In what way are you qualified in Electronics?
You may have missed a couple of classes on microwave radiation.

(No, that would not be safe.)

Ok I think the general opinion here is that this is not safe for a number of reasons,
with respect to medical reasons there may be better forums here to ask this question. So best of luck streaming wood.:)
