The sixth season of True Blood will be comprised of just 10 episodes, it has been confirmed.
Alan Ball - the HBO drama's departing showrunner - told TV Guide that the next season will run shorter than the usual 12 episodes.
The reduction is linked to star Anna Paquin (Sookie), who is currently pregnant and is expected to give birth to twins in November.
"We're moving production to January to accommodate her," Ball announced. "And there will only be 10 shows next season partly because of Anna and partly because of the economics."
True Blood was renewed by HBO back in July.

I've read on a few sites that this will probably be the last season. While I'll miss the madness, I think it could be a good decision unless they really strip back the show and focus on a few main plots instead of the growing number of subplots we've seen every year. Was anybody interested in Terry and the Ifrit? Or even Sam's storylines?

True Blood has tapped English actor Rob Kazinsky (EastEnders) to join the Season 6 cast as a series regular

Kazinsky — whose biggest TV credit stateside was an arc as a doctor on Brothers & Sisters — will play Ben, a highly charismatic faerie who takes a liking to Sookie (and vice-versa) and helps Sookie and Jason delve deeper into the mystery of their parents’ murders. This marks True Blood‘s second major Season 6 hire. As TVLine reported last month, acting vet Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) has also come on board in the series regular role of Macklyn, a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason.

True Blood‘s sixth season is slated to premiere in June.

Robert Patrick has been signed up as a series regular for the sixth season of True Blood.
The Terminator 2 star previously appeared in three episodes of the HBO drama's fifth season as Jackson Herveaux, the father of Alcide (Joe Manganiello).
He will reprise the role on a regular basis for the show's next run, which will premiere in the US in summer 2013, Deadline reports.

Friday Night Lights alumna Jurnee Smollett is joining the show as a series regular, and 90210's Amelia Rose Blaire will also recur on the HBO drama, TVLine reports.
Smollett will play Nicole, a somewhat naïve do-gooder, and Blaire will play Willa, the daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard), who disagrees with her father about vampire rights, according to TVLine.

There is suppose to be a big death this season that affects most of the characters, so who could it be Eric (even though he is already dead :P)
