Tethering problems on HTC Sensation

This handset was tethering fine, using an 087 Vodafone number. It is now used on a different 087 VF number, but won't tether properly. The SSID for the phone shows up in a laptops wifi software, but tries repeatedly and fails to connect. Any ideas ? It isn't mine, so responses to this thread may take a while.
