My friend took her 2007 yaris to a main dealer for service, and they said her timing belt was getting a bit frayed, and that she should really replace it. How much should that cost her?

Yaris doesn't have a timing belt. They have an auxiliary belt that the alternator and water pump runs off though.

A timming chain kit costs around 130-140 euro and will take a day to do.

You would be looking at around 450-500 euro at least to do a timing Chain.

As said above, you have a small aux belt for water pump and altenator though, thats a piece of pi55 to do.

If it was my car, I'd be changing the water pump around now anyway.
