    Hi,
Have a new Cube Ltd Pro and want to take her off-road. I go on flat trails around Navan but nothing exciting. And road biking too.

so some advice needed on the Cooley Mts please.
It's about 1hr away from me, so great for a blast.
Wickla is about 1:30 odd so next time there.

    Q's:
    where to park
what route to take - initially to start off - 2hr spin !!
    A loop would be great.

google map co-ord links would be helpful, as I don't know that area at all.

any help would be super- hoping to do this Monday morning.
I have had a look at notthesundayrun.com but they mainly do the other side of the bay at Rostrevor.

    Thx

    K

I'd head to Ticknock in Dublin, marked trails and never too far from the car, esp. if you are new to mountain biking...

I only know the Cooley's from the trails used on the "Cooley Thriller" and the mountains are fairly open with no markings or clear easy to follow trails, so unless you are going with someone who knows there way around up there then I wouldn't....

I'd agree with Tenzor - I don't think the Cooley's are the place to get lost without someone who knows their way around!
The guys from Cuchaillin probably organise spins for new members that you could probably tag along on!

    Thx lads,

    found this - http://www.trailbadger.com/trails/louth/cooley-mountains/

    with a vid of Ravensdale.
Found the car park for Ravensdale and the fire road up along the mt (just further up the road) - and will go on this to see what it's like. But leave the forest trail til I have a co-rider.

Will have a look at Ticknock too -

    thx

Spend another 15 minutes in the car and goto Ticknock. You will meet up with plenty of others and there are man made (albeit bloody dangerous) trials.
