Motor Insurance Question

Hi folks, a question on motor insurance. In the event of a claim where a car is written off and the insurance co. are offering a settlement of less than the replacement value, does the claimant have a right to get the insurance company to source a replacement car?
I am well aware that loss assessors are also available and that it is possible to appeal to the Financial Services Ombudsman, but can you just say to them, "Fine, go away and find me a like for like replacement", or does an offer of a financial settlement fulfill their legal obligations?

does an offer of a financial settlement fulfill their legal obligations?

The acceptance of the offer does..... not the offer.

You can say "go away and find me a motor so" but they won't do that. They can choose to though if they wish but are under no obligation to do so.

If you feel the value of the offer is less than the value then don't accept it and show them why you feel this way.

Go out and find a number of examples of cars on sale that are the same as the one you are replacing, and if these examples show that you cannot replace your car with the same for the money being offered then bring the examples to the insurer and tell them. You are not obliged to accept their first offer, especially where they are obviously trying to pull a fast one.
